This is a great question. And ultimately, no matter what advice you get from others on the internet, you should always check your manual first for your specific model of CO detector to help identify what the issue might be. If you don’t have the manual for whatever reason, you can find a copy with a quick search online.
That out of the way, if you’re 100% sure it’s not due to the presence of carbon monoxide, it’s likely one of a few things:
- Low voltage to the detector
- It expired
This. And you might as well replace the unit anyways since it expires this year.
::Slides in if unattended. Not only will it beter protect your RV from rain and sun, it will be one less access point for mice/rodents.
::It’s funny you should ask, I just picked up another tub of Camco TST today. Its been my go-to for years. Mainly because its just as effective as any of the others I’ve tried and at a fraction of the price. It’s alos easier to use than scooping powder or measuring liquid.
::The tricky part is getting it through the door. Some sofas the back will come off so you can easily fit the couch through a camper door.
April 3, 2024 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Winnebago One of Newsweek’s Most Trustworthy Companies in 2024 #40663::if you don’t regularly camp in the cold, and this is just unusual weather, I dont know if I’d invest the time/money in putting up window film.
Side note, check the seals around the windows and make sure there aren’t any gaps. Seal with lap sealant if needed.
::Just clean it with a little diluted bleach. Contrary to what many say, a little bit of bleach diluted with water wont hurt the system or seals. Or just clean it with vinegar if you’re worried about bleach. A little surface mold is nothing to worry about.
::Thanks for the reminder. To add to this, check your fire extinguishers and review your first aid kits, as well.
::Typically you want to wait until it stays above freezing for the majority of the day. It if it gets below freezing just at night you’ll be fine.
::It depends where you’re located. But, I’d start with truck stops, then check with your local V dealers. They might have one or know of one.
