Curious, for those that work remotely from their RV, what are your pros and cons? And I don’t mean just full-time, but those who do any remote work. Could be even while on vacation. What are your tips to be more productive?
I always bring my laptop with me while on vacation to stay up-to-date with emails, requests, etc from work. Usually for about 30 minutes to an hour before everybody is up.Β I have found early morning work is the best time for me to work distraction free.
Just curious what others routines are.

Good discussion starter! I’m in a similar boat. Not full-time, but I work remotely every vacation (to my wife’s dismay). We have plenty of downtime camping so I work during those times, typically when everybody is outside, that way I can set up at the dining table and get some work done.
A good wifi connection can be an issue. WIFI is something I look for when booking a campground but you can never rely on it. Starlink is by far the best when it comes to getting overall great coverage across the country (as of right now), so it’s well worth it if you have to work on the road.
I work form home when not RV’ing so working outside the office has never been an issue for me. But I know others say they couldn’t do it, they feel isolated, lonely, etc. Its not for everybody.

I’m new to the camping world, so working from our camper has been an adjustment for me. Dealing with distractions/motivation is my biggest issue. Maybe its because I’m in vacation mode, but getting any amount of work done is difficult. Even if the kids/hubby are outside, I’m more interested in what they are doing than work. If we lived full-time in a camper I think that would be different, but trying to work whileΒ we are out camping is tough for me.

Thanks for sharing your experiences so far. And I totally understand where you’re coming from Shannon. It can be tough. Motivation is definitely an issue. I used to have both motivation/distraction issues until I started getting up before everybody and knocking out my work. I know its not an option for everybody. But maybe give it a try if you can. π
