I’ve seen a lot of nice KOA campgrounds when looking for places to stay, but they all seem kinda pricey. Is it worth becoming a member? I’ve googled the price and found three different prices. Does anybody know the current membership cost? I can always reach out to them if not. Thanks!

The KOA Rewards program is $36 per year at the time of posting this. Whether that is worth it just depends on how often you plan on using it.

A few of the perks include:

              • A 10% discount on daily rates at their campgrounds.
              • A free night during the KOA Rewards Weekend
              • Special discounts on Goodyear tires, mattresses, etc.
              • $10 off FMCA membership
              • Earn reward points that you can redeem for discounted stays

And so on. You can read about all the perks of membership here.

If you stay at KOAs often, you could earn back the membership many times over. But I’ve noticed that you can typically find campgrounds for cheaper, even after the 10% discount, especially if you don’t want/need all of the amenities that a KOA typically offers. I usually don’t.

Thanks @tory-jon! I think after the discount and the rewards it would pay for itself. I’ve only stayed at one KOA but I feel like you know what you’re in for when you stay at one. Theres no surprises. ANd there everywhere, so I could recoup the membership cost pretty fast.

Glad to help! There are a few other membership clubs you might want to compare before pulling the trigger on the KOA Rewards membership. For example, Good Sam’s and Passport America are roughly the same yearly price and offer campground discounts (10% off for Good Sam’s and 50% off for Passport America). Not saying either one is better for you, only you can decide that, but I thought I’d throw that out there. Here’s a breakdown of those and a few other RV membership clubs: https://camperfaqs.com/rv-memberships

Keep in mind, if you use it enough you can earn a free annual renewal, so it’s effectively free. It’s about 15-20 stays from what I’ve experienced.
