          1. These 21 Free Camping Areas Could Start Charging Next Year

The Forest Service has proposed new overnight fees at 21 camping locations in Arizona, Montana, and California. Standard campsites would cost $10 to $26 per night, depending on the campground. Nothing has been approved yet, and the earliest possible start is April 19, 2027. Several locations have limited room for RVs, so the list is worth checking before planning a trip.

          2. RV Sales Fell, but Parts Counters Had a Better Month

September brought an unusual split at 239 participating RV dealerships: sales revenue dropped 5.6% from a year earlier, while parts revenue rose 5%. Are owners putting money into their current rigs instead of replacing them? That’s one possible explanation, but the report doesn’t establish what drove the increase. Higher prices and dealer restocking could also have played a role.

          3. RV Shipments Could Hit a 14-Year Low. Will Prices Follow?

A revised industry forecast puts 2026 RV shipments at about 290,000, which would be the first year below 300,000 since 2012. Buyers hoping for widespread discounts may face a catch: dealers are keeping inventory in check by ordering fewer replacements. An RV that has been sitting on the lot could still offer negotiating room, but the slowdown alone doesn’t guarantee a bargain.

Love’s expects to reach 150 RV locations by the end of 2026, with a target of 200 by late 2027 or early 2028. Alongside the overnight expansion, the company has added RV tires, batteries, and maintenance options across parts of its network. Campsite amenities and repair capabilities vary by location, so travelers will still need to check what each stop offers.

          5. A Store Manager’s Permission May Not Be Enough for an Overnight Stay

Getting permission to sleep in a business parking lot doesn’t always settle the matter. Some cities prohibit overnight vehicle camping even when the property owner allows it. Recent updates in California, Utah, and Colorado show how much the rules can differ, with some covering public property and others reaching commercial lots. One Utah town, however, explicitly allows an exception for private-owner permission.

          6. More Buc-ee’s Plans Include Somewhere to Park the RV

The Buc-ee’s scheduled to open November 16 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, will have 15 parking spaces shared by RVs and buses. Development plans for several other locations include similar spaces, giving travelers more room to park while visiting the store. Those spots aren’t overnight accommodations, though. Buc-ee’s still prohibits parking to rest or leaving vehicles for extended periods.
