So, we just noticed the sealant is old around our skylight and start to separate if that makes sense. What sealant should we use to reseal it? I’d like to get this fixed asap! Thanks
Use Dicor self leveling sealant
DIcor lap sealant is your best bet, IMO. Thoroughly clean the area, wipe it down with denatured alcohol, and if the separation is bad and the old caulk is loose, you can remove it, but Dicor actually recommends just leaving the old sealant. Then just put a strip of new sealant over the old. Here’s a quick how-to video:
I came to say dicor self leveling myself. I used it a few years back around a vent and havent had any issues since. I DID remove the old caulk but it was so bad I felt i had too.
