I haven’t switched myself but I’ve looked into it. They’re cool in theory, but they’re expensive if you get a good one! I could replace my current toilet 5 times for that. If it paid for itself in dump fees or water savings, I’d maybe consider it.

Pros: no water, no need for a dump station, no black tank cleaning/maintenance. Cons: high initial investment, manual handling of feces, learning curve, and they can take up more space than you might expect, which can be an issue if you have a small bathroom. Also, keep in mind, some campgrounds, parks may have rules against disposing of compost waste on-site, requiring you to pack it out.

We switched to a Nature’s Head just a few months ago due to the fact we boondock every trip now. Takes some getting used to, but we only empty solids every 3-4 weeks. Urine jug every 2-3 days.
