May RV Recalls Hit More Than 14,000 Units
More than a dozen RV and RV-related recalls were reported in May, affecting over 14,000 units. The recalls included fire risks tied to battery heating pads, suspension bolt problems that could create road hazards, and a Forest River issue involving sewer gas entering the cabin. The bigger takeaway for RV owners is simple: do not wait for a letter in the mail. Checking a VIN through NHTSA can show open recalls sooner and help owners get free repairs scheduled before a trip.
Drone Filmed Near Yellowstone Grizzly and Cubs Sparks Outrage
A Yellowstone visitor captured video of a drone flying near a grizzly bear named Beryl and her two cubs near the Grizzly Lake Trailhead. Nearby visitors were reportedly angry after realizing the drone was not being operated by park staff. Drone use has been banned in national parks since 2014, and violations can bring fines or jail time. Yellowstone also requires visitors to stay at least 100 yards from bears and wolves, and the park urges people to report illegal drone activity to rangers.

The company alleges Prowse made false and misleading statements about the design, safety, and performance of its lithium batteries in monetized content. The case remains unresolved, and the claims are allegations at this stage.

Zion’s East Entrance Route Now Off-Limits to Many Large RVs
Zion National Park began enforcing new restrictions on June 7, 2026, that block many oversized vehicles from using the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance. The route includes the historic tunnel, narrow switchbacks, and bridges with weight limits. Vehicles over the listed size or weight limits, along with many truck-and-trailer combinations, must use another route. RVers can still visit Zion through the South Entrance, use campground access when available, or consider park-and-ride service from Virgin, Utah.
18-Year-Old Hiker Dies on Grand Canyon’s Bright Angel Trail
An 18-year-old hiker died after experiencing heat-related symptoms during a June 3 day hike from the South Rim toward the Colorado River and back. Park officials said rangers reached him below Havasupai Gardens near Garden Creek and attempted lifesaving measures, including coordinating a helicopter rescue, but he did not survive. Grand Canyon officials warn visitors not to attempt a rim-to-river-and-back hike in one day and advise summer hikers to avoid the hottest hours, carry water and electrolytes, eat regularly, and turn around before conditions become unsafe.
Grizzly Injures Hiker on Glacier’s Grinnell Glacier Trail
A 32-year-old hiker was injured by a grizzly bear on Glacier National Park’s Grinnell Glacier Trail on May 28. Park officials described the incident as a surprise encounter on a snowfield about 3.5 miles up the trail. The bear charged the hiker and broke his arm before leaving the area. Other hikers provided first aid and contacted authorities, and the injured man was flown to a hospital in Kalispell. Park officials advise hikers in bear country to make noise, travel in groups, carry bear spray, and stay alert near loud water, blind corners, and thick vegetation.
