Google Maps Adds AI Planning and a New 3D View
Google says this is its biggest Google Maps update in more than 10 years. The company is adding two main features: Ask Maps, which lets people ask detailed trip-planning questions in plain language, and Immersive Navigation, a new driving view that shows roads, lanes, traffic lights, buildings, and terrain in 3D. Google says Ask Maps draws from hundreds of millions of places and contributors, while the navigation system uses Street View and aerial imagery to build a more detailed view of the route.
For RV travelers, that could make it easier to find stops, services, and amenities without jumping through several searches. Still, the update does not fix one of the biggest complaints from RV drivers: Google Maps still does not let users enter vehicle height, weight, or length, so it remains limited for large rigs where route restrictions matter.
Love’s Opens an Alabama Stop Built With RV Travelers in Mind
Love’s Travel Stops has opened a new location in Quinton, Alabama, at 220 Elza’s Way. The company says it is the 15th Love’s site in the state and that the new stop adds 123 truck parking spaces as part of its wider parking expansion in 2026. For RV travelers, the standout features are five RV hookups, an RV dump station, and three RV parking spaces, giving road trippers another practical stop along a busy corridor.
The site also includes 71 car parking spaces, nine diesel bays, seven showers, laundry facilities, a CAT Scale, a dog park, self-checkout, and fresh food prepared on-site. An Arby’s is also part of the location. Love’s says the 14,307-square-foot travel stop created 65 jobs and includes space that could be used for EV chargers if demand grows. The company also marked the opening with local charitable donations.
Fatal Fall Shuts Down Angels Landing During Recovery Effort
A visitor died after falling from Angels Landing Trail in Zion National Park, according to reporting cited from Fox 13 News Utah. The National Park Service received reports of the fall at 2 p.m. Friday and closed the West Rim Trail, including Scout Lookout and Angels Landing, while crews carried out search and recovery work. By Saturday, park officials confirmed the death and said no further details would be released until the next of kin had been notified.
Angels Landing is one of Zion’s most well-known hikes and also one of its most demanding. The final stretch follows a narrow ridge with steep drop-offs of roughly 500 to 1,000 feet, and access is limited by permit. The trail reopened Saturday morning. Officials have not released the identity of the visitor.
