I’ve been storing my sewer hose in a tote, but i’m running out of room and would like to start storing it in the bumper. I thought I read somewhere that people prefer to not use the bumper, which is why I beleieve I started using a tote to begin with? Maybe that’s wrong. Where does everybody else store theirs?

I’ve always used the bumper for storage. I did replace the end caps with vented end caps. Some RVers avoid storing their sewer hose in the bumper because it can trap moisture, which leads to rust or even mold if the hose goes in wet. The bumper isn’t always a great fit for hoses with bulky fittings either. People also worry about odors if the hose wasn’t fully rinsed, and the standard bumper caps are known to fall off unless you secure them better. It’s convenient, but not without its drawbacks, which is why some folks stick with a tote or install a dedicated hose carrier instead.

I do both…lol. I keep my spare in a tote and my main one in the bumper.

                      Hey all,

New to the site, not new to RV’ing

I mounted a 6″ PVC fence post under the back end of the RV that goes from side to side, put a cap on each end and hold them in place with springs

Drilled a few holes in the bottom and sides of the channel to help vent/drain, been using it for over 5 years now and no issues. I can store 2 standard hoses in case I need that extra few feet

                      Good luck and be safe

                      Rick
