Just a heads up in case you’ve been on the fence about getting Starlink internet.
Starlink just quietly dropped the price of its Starlink Mini to $199, and this time, it is not just a retailer deal. The $199 price is now showing on Starlink’s own website, which makes it the lowest price this portable dish has ever been.
The Mini originally launched at $599, later fell to $299, briefly dipped to $229 during a holiday promo, and has now gone even lower. Starlink lists the regular price as $249, so this appears to be a limited discount. The same $199 price is also available at Best Buy and Walmart, with retailers offering in-store pickup. Orders through Starlink add a $20 shipping charge.
Buying direct requires the Roam plan for portable use, but ownership means you keep the hardware even if you cancel later. That makes it useful as a travel setup or backup internet option. Starlink still offers a free rental with its $120 per month Residential Max plan, but that unit must be returned if service changes.
The Mini is backpack-sized, has a built-in WiFi router, and is designed for quick setup with a clear view of the sky. Speeds are lower than the standard dish, but real-world tests have topped 300 Mbps in ideal conditions.
For RVers, van travelers, and remote campers, this is the cheapest entry point Starlink has offered so far.
