Texas Hill Country Resort Earns Top U.S. Campground Honors for 2026
Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country, located near New Braunfels along the Guadalupe River, has been named one of the top campgrounds in the country in the 2026 Campspot Awards. The annual rankings draw on guest reviews, reservation data, amenities, and overall performance, placing the resort at the top of the nationwide list for the year.
The property blends traditional camping with large-scale resort features. Guests can book full hook-up RV sites, tent sites, or custom cabins. On-site attractions include two heated pools, a swim-up bar, a water playground with slides and a hydrostorm bucket, and a long list of organized activities. Signature draws such as the Cliff Carver Alpine Coaster, described as Texas’ first alpine roller coaster, and the Guadalupe Glider zipline add a theme-park feel to the experience.
With river frontage for fishing and tubing, multiple dining outlets, sports courts, a ropes course, and other family-focused amenities, the resort reflects a broader shift in outdoor hospitality. Large RV destinations with structured entertainment are increasingly competing alongside traditional public campgrounds for national recognition.
Timed Entry Dropped at Three Major National Parks for Summer 2026
The National Park Service has released its summer 2026 access plans, and the headline is a notable rollback of timed entry requirements at several high-traffic parks. Yosemite, Arches, and Glacier will not require broad advance reservations next year, while Rocky Mountain National Park will keep its system in place during peak season.
According to the agency, the decision follows a review of traffic flow, parking capacity, and visitor demand during 2025. Yosemite will rely on real-time traffic management and seasonal staffing instead of advance booking, including during its popular firefall period. Arches plans to manage congestion through on-the-ground controls when lots fill, and Glacier will continue targeted management along Going-to-the-Sun Road and at Logan Pass without a park-wide reservation rule.
Rocky Mountain National Park remains the exception, continuing timed entry from late May through mid-October to align vehicle access with roadway and parking limits. For travelers, that means fewer advance hurdles at three marquee parks, but on-site capacity controls will still apply once lots and roads reach their limits.
RV Industry Confronts Rising Tensions Over Vehicle Living
A recent RVLifestyle Podcast episode examined a topic that has gained national attention: the growing number of people living in RVs out of economic necessity. In Michigan, two policy efforts illustrate the divide. One proposed bill would allow extended campground stays near areas facing housing or workforce shortages. San Francisco has restricted large-vehicle parking, Los Angeles County operates a limited safe parking program, Carlsbad has enacted bans with citations, and Florida adopted a statewide camping ban in public spaces.
More than 100 new camping bans were passed nationwide in 2024, with additional measures pending. While some businesses, such as Cracker Barre,l report no official corporate change to overnight parking policies, local enforcement decisions vary. The broader concern raised in the podcast is that lawmakers may increasingly group all forms of RV living together, shaping rules that affect both those traveling by choice and those relying on vehicles for shelter.
