Hipcamp, a major campsite booking company, has introduced a Weather Guarantee in partnership with Sensible Weather, a weather protection provider.
This new feature aims to offer campers reimbursements if rain affects their trip. Hipcamp’s commitment to encouraging outdoor activities is strengthened by this addition, which covers over 120,000 private campsites in the US.
Sensible Weather uses advanced satellite imagery and climate analytics to assess weather risks. Each Weather Guarantee is tailored to the specific location, date, and experience of the trip. Campers receive clear information about the guarantee before purchasing, and if the weather criteria are met, reimbursements are made automatically without the need for claims or cancellations.
Nick Cavanaugh, CEO of Sensible Weather, emphasized that the goal is to reduce the uncertainties of weather, allowing campers to plan with confidence. Alyssa Ravasio, CEO of Hipcamp, noted that bad weather is the leading cause of trip cancellations. The Weather Guarantee is expected to give campers more confidence in booking trips, potentially leading to longer stays and benefiting campsite hosts.
