          Here’s a fun little game you can play with children next time you’re out camping.

          Count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 14 seconds, then add 40 to that number. The result is a rough estimate of the temperature.

          For example, if you count 30 chirps in 14 seconds, you add 40, and the temperature is approximately 70°F. This method is a simplified version of Dolbear’s Law, which describes the relationship between cricket chirping and temperature.

          And it’s pretty darn accurate! Try it out! 🙂
