Free Park Entry and a Day of Giving Back: National Public Lands Day Returns September 27

National Public Lands Day is back on Saturday, September 27, 2025, with free entry to all national parks that normally charge fees. Since 1994, it’s been the country’s biggest single-day volunteer event, drawing thousands of people who pitch in to restore parks, rivers, and even neighborhood green spaces. Last year alone saw over 7,600 volunteers donate 41,500 hours. This year’s theme, “Together for Tomorrow,” encourages folks of all backgrounds to care for public lands and build connections while they’re at it. Whether you’re volunteering, hiking, or just soaking up the outdoors, there are countless ways to get involved.

New York State RV Show Rolls Out Big Deals and Family Fun

The New York State RV Show just wrapped up at the State Fairgrounds, with hundreds of RVs and campers on display from nine Central New York dealerships. From luxury motorhomes to compact pop-ups, visitors had access to 2025 models and discounted pre-owned options. Families took in the event with bounce houses, food trucks, and even a trackless train. Despite early-year concerns about rising costs from tariffs, dealers say price increases have stayed within the normal range.

Copper Thief Arrested After Costly RV Power Cord Thefts in California

A months-long string of thefts at ET Quality RV in Yuba City finally came to a close after authorities arrested a man for stealing over 40 heavy-duty RV power cords. Each cord, worth up to $300, was stripped for its copper and sold for scrap. Surveillance footage and detective work led police to Peter Pato, who was caught burning copper wire at a riverside encampment. The arrest brought some closure to the RV business and the local church also impacted by the thefts.
