          RV Industry Is Fueling Borneo's Rainforest Destruction

          A new investigation reveals that the U.S. RV industry is the largest consumer of tropical wood in the country, relying heavily on lauan plywood sourced from deforestation in Indonesia. Major brands like Jayco, owned by Thor Industries, are linked to suppliers clearing orangutan habitat daily in Borneo. The wood is traced back to Indonesian companies with government permits to log massive areas of rainforest, including from PT Indosubur Sukses Makmur, which alone bulldozed over 1,200 hectares of forest since 2021. Despite public commitments to sustainability, RV manufacturers are using wood from clear-cut forests, while more responsible alternatives exist at minimal extra cost. Investigators urge RV companies and consumers to take immediate action to stop the destruction.

Wingamm’s RVs are built on American chassis, finished in Italy, then shipped back to the U.S. Despite the cost hike, the Oasi 540.1’s compact size, high-end features, and easy parking remain its big selling points.

          General RV Employee Charged With Stealing $2 Million in Fake Check Scheme

          Susan O’Hara, a 56-year-old former employee at General RV Center in Wixom, Michigan, is accused of embezzling over $2 million by writing fraudulent checks to stolen identities. Authorities say she cashed the checks and pocketed the money using her access to the company’s system. She now faces multiple felony charges, including embezzlement and computer-related crimes. The case was investigated by Wixom police and referred to the Michigan Attorney General’s office.
