EPA to Ease Diesel RV “Limp Mode” Rules Starting in 2027

Good news for RVers: The EPA is changing how diesel vehicles respond to DEF system issues. Starting with 2027 models, manufacturers won’t be allowed to immediately cut engine power when a fault is detected. Instead, speed and power reductions will happen more gradually, giving drivers more time and distance to get to help. This update aims to reduce the number of drivers stranded by faulty sensors or poor DEF quality. Owners of existing diesel vehicles may also see optional software updates from manufacturers.

Starlink’s $5 Standby Mode: Super Slow, But Some Say It’s Worth It

Starlink’s new Standby Mode only costs $5 a month, but the speed caps at just 0.5Mbps. It replaces the old free pause feature, frustrating some users. Still, others—like truckers and rural business owners—say it’s a steal for basic tasks like Wi-Fi calling, messaging, or taking card payments. SpaceX warns that using Standby for too long could lead to forced upgrades or restrictions, so it’s best seen as a short-term backup.

Family Sues Texas RV Resort Over Deadly July 4th Flood

The family of Jayda Floyd, a 22-year-old woman killed in the Texas Hill Country floods, is suing the HTR TX Hill Country Resort for at least $1 million. The lawsuit claims the resort knew about flood risks but failed to warn guests or provide an evacuation plan. Floyd and her fiancé were swept away after helping save others. The resort denies the claims, saying the flood’s speed and severity couldn’t have been predicted.
