          South Dakota Tightens Voting Rules for RVers

          Living the RV life in South Dakota just got a little trickier for those who want to vote. A new law now requires RV residents to live in one spot for 30 straight days to vote in state elections. Previously, they could qualify after just one night or 30 scattered days. While another law still lets RVers vote in federal elections via absentee ballot, it limits their ability to vote in state races. Some RVers are okay with planning around the new rules, but others feel their rights are being taken away. With these changes, many are rethinking if South Dakota is still the right home base.

          Big Recreation Cutbacks Hit Missouri River Basin This Summer

          Starting May 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close or scale back services at several parks and campgrounds in the Missouri River Basin due to staffing shortages. Sites in Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana will be affected, including full or partial campground shutdowns and fewer visitor services like trash pickup and safety patrols. Several visitor centers will close or reduce hours, and all powerhouse tours are paused. Officials say it’s about keeping things safe and sustainable, but travelers should double-check before hitting the road.
