We have a rather large 5th wheel. Question is, do we need to stop at weigh stations? We never have, just didn’t know if maybe we were supposed to.

RVs and fifth wheels used solely for personal, recreational purposes are generally not required to stop at weigh stations. However, they typically must stop at weigh stations if used for commercial purposes.
That said, each state has its own regulations regarding weigh stations. Some states explicitly exempt recreational vehicles from stopping at weigh stations, while others may require any vehicle over a certain weight to stop.
Here’s what I suggest:
- Research State Laws: Check the specific laws for each state you plan to travel through.
- Follow Signage: Adhere to instructions provided by road signs near weigh stations.
