I’m looking for low-water, minimal-cleanup food tips that still feel like a real meal. We do plan to hit up full hook-up parks in between every couple boondocking days.

*Sorry, wasn’t sure if this should go in homemaking or boondocking section. Please move if needed.

          Thanks!

We do a lot of make-ahead meals before we leave. I’ll cook up taco meat, chili, and grilled chicken, then vacuum-seal and freeze them. When we’re out, I just thaw and heat over a fire (when possible). That way, we don’t burn through propane or water trying to cook and clean every day.

I keep it simple: eggs, wraps, canned beans, and instant rice. You can mix and match those into burritos, bowls, or stir-fry style meals. I also keep a cast iron skillet handy since we cook outside a lot over the fire.

Tortillas are a lifesaver. I’ll do breakfast burritos (scrambled eggs, cheese, hot sauce) wrapped in foil and stored in the fridge. Reheat on a skillet or fire grate. Eat right from the foil—no plate, no mess, and barely any water needed.

Haven’t bondocked in years but what we used ot do is pre-cook and freeze stew and chili in individual servings. Then heat them in the pot and eat right out of it or from collapsible silicone bowls. Wipe them with a paper towel and a tiny splash of vinegar water. Works great
