Pilot and Flying J locations are more than just fuel stations – they’re a network built with RVers in mind.
Between the app, Good Sam partnership, and RV-specific amenities, there are real advantages once you know how to use them.
These insider tips for RVers show how to get the most out of every visit.
1. Use the app filters to find true RV-friendly locations
Not every Pilot or Flying J has propane, dump stations, or wide RV lanes. The myRewards Plus app lets you filter locations by these amenities, check parking availability, and view fuel types and dining options before you pull off the highway. It’s the easiest way to know which sites truly accommodate RVs.
2. Activate the monthly fuel discount before filling up
Each month, Pilot offers a 10¢ per gallon fuel discount, but you only get it if you save the offer in the app. It resets every month, so the discount won’t apply automatically, even if you’ve used it before.
According to Pilot’s Auto & RV Driver Rewards page, “Save the offer in the Pilot™ app at the start of every month and scan it at the pump when you’re filling up.”
Steps to activate and use the discount:
- Open the myRewards Plus app at the start of the month.
- Find the fuel discount offer under “Your Available Offers”
- Tap Save to add it to your account.
- When you fuel up, scan your app barcode or enter your myRewards number.
- The 10¢ discount applies instantly at participating Pilot, Flying J, and One9 locations.
3. Link your Good Sam account for extra savings
Good Sam members can connect their membership in the myRewards Plus app and receive 5 cents off gas, 10 cents off diesel, and 10 cents off propane. Dump station fees are also discounted at participating locations. Linking the accounts takes only a minute, and the savings apply automatically when you scan your phone or loyalty card at checkout.
4. Take advantage of dedicated RV fueling lanes
Pilot and Flying J locations that cater to RVers often have fueling lanes designed specifically for larger RVs. These lanes are wider, offer more space to maneuver, and are set apart from the busy truck area. It’s one of those features you don’t realize how much you’ll enjoy until you try to maneuver through the lanes of other popular travel centers (Love’s, I’m looking at you).
In the myRewards Plus app, locations that have RV lanes will show how many are available. It’s worth checking this before you stop, so you can plan your fuel breaks at the most RV-friendly sites along your route.

5. Check propane service type and hours
Propane service varies by location. Some offer bulk refills, while others only exchange cylinders. Also, propane hours often differ from store hours since only certified attendants can pump. Confirm the service type and operating hours in the app before you arrive, especially if you expect to reach the stop later in the evening.
6. Use dump stations strategically
Not every Pilot or Flying J offers a dump station, and fees vary by location. Their website location finder and the myRewards Plus app list this under each stop’s amenities. You can also filter locations by dump station availability.
Good Sam members typically receive a discounted rate on dumping fees ($2.50 at the time of writing this), and some locations even waive the charge if you purchase fuel first.
7. Refill diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) at the pump
Many Pilot and Flying J sites sell DEF at the diesel islands, and it’s usually far cheaper than buying individual jugs inside. The app will show which locations have DEF at the pump, so you can plan those refills along your route instead of guessing when you’ll find the next one.
8. Use the dedicated RV parking spots when available
Many Pilot and Flying J travel centers include designated RV parking spots, usually located away from the main truck area. These spaces provide easier access for larger RVs and are generally quieter at night. The myRewards Plus app lists how many RV parking spots are available at each location. Since policies vary by store and local ordinance, it’s still best to check inside before staying overnight. And treat it as a short rest stop rather than a campground.
9. Reserve a shower in the app instead of waiting in line
You don’t have to be a truck driver to use Pilot’s showers. They’re private, cleaned between each use, and available to anyone. The myRewards Plus app lets you reserve a shower when you arrive and alerts you when it’s ready, which helps you avoid standing in line during busy hours. If you’re boondocking or between campgrounds, this is a clean, practical option that’s open 24 hours at most full-service locations.
10. Email receipts directly from the app
Every transaction you make using your myRewards account – fuel, food, or services – appears in the app under your profile. You can view, download, or email receipts going back up to 18 months. This makes budgeting and expense tracking simple, especially if you keep travel logs or deduct mileage for business use. It also eliminates the hassle of saving paper receipts that can fade or get lost.
11. Use Trip Planner in the app to plan fuel and service stops
The Trip Planner in the myRewards Plus app lets you map your route and see every Pilot, Flying J, and One9 stop along the way. You can filter by amenities such as RV parking, dump stations, and propane refills, and even view restaurant options or fuel types at each location. It’s one of the most useful features in the app, in my opinion.
12. Earn rewards beyond fuel discounts
Each time you scan your myRewards barcode, you earn points redeemable for in-store discounts on coffee, snacks, or meals. The app also tracks your drink purchases through the Pilot Drink Club, where every tenth beverage is free. If you travel a lot, these perks can help cut down on small daily costs that add up over long trips.
Bonus Tip: For those eligible, verify the military discount in the app before checkout
Pilot and Flying J offer a 10% discount on food and drinks for active-duty military, veterans, and their families. To use it, you’ll need to verify your military status through ID.me inside the myRewards Plus app or on the Pilot website. Once verified, the discount automatically applies when you scan your rewards barcode during in-store purchases. It’s available at most company-owned Pilot, Flying J, and One9 locations in the United States.
