1. Camco RhinoFLEX RV Sewer Hose Kit

  • Best Sewer Hose Kit Award
Camco 20-Foot RhinoFLEX Sewer Hose Hit
Camco 20-Foot RhinoFLEX Sewer Hose Hit

Camco, a leading manufacturer of RV products, sells multiple RV sewer hose kits (two of which made this list).

But the RhinoFLEX is, in my opinion, the best model available!

Why? Because the durability and features can’t be beaten for the price.

Durability

This 23mm thick hose is made of polyolefin reinforced with steel wire for excellent durability. With that said, the RhinoFlex is designed to be lightweight, flexible, and easy to use and store. I’ve used one for years with no issues.

But, this model is not as strong as the Camco RhinoExtreme. The Extreme model was designed for anything you can throw at it. It will not dent, rust, or crush if stepped on. Plus, it offers superior abrasion resistance and can withstand temps down to -40.

I prefer the RhinoFLEX as it’s the most well-rounded sewer hose in terms of durability, features, and price, but if durability is your main concern, go for the Camco RhinoExtreme. Just keep in mind it’s about $20 more.

While this hose is extra durable, it’s also very lightweight. I typically handle dumping the tanks, but I asked my wife to test this out, and she had no problem handling the hose throughout the process.

Features

The RhinoFlex kit contains two 10-foot hoses and a 4-in-1 adapter elbow. The hoses attach and collapse so they don’t take up too much space. You can also compress the hose so that you can only stretch out as much as you need and easily switch between lengths.

One of the best features of this hose is the see-through elbow. If you can’t see through your hose, it is hard to tell when all the waste is gone. This model lets you see what is passing through and know when you are finished.

All of this, and it still compacts down to 56″ for easy storage.

Lightweight, durable, and feature-rich. We have a clear winner!

2. Valterra Dominator RV Sewer Hose Kit

Valterra Dominator RV Sewer Hose Kit
Valterra Dominator RV Sewer Hose Kit

Like the RhinoFlex, the Valterra D04-0275 comes with two 10-foot hoses that can be connected. Its universal adapter connects to any sewage system. The rotating fittings allow you to connect to your RV easily. Also, the poly construction will keep you safe from leaks.

The clear and tall elbow lets you see when your job is done, and the drip caps prevent you from soiling your RV. This hose also holds its shape well even after you expand it. Each 10-foot hose collapses to 39 inches when ready to store, so you don’t have to stress about finding space. They even hold up in freezing temperatures, allowing you to camp safely at any time of year.

Some hoses stretch out when you try to store them after use. The Valterra snaps back down to storage size and won’t spring back open suddenly in your arms. Some reviewers say that to clean the hose properly, you’ll need to fully extend it to prevent wastewater from getting trapped in the creases. When you get your hose, test it before use to ensure there are no issues.

3. Titan Premium RV Sewer Kit

Titan Premium RV Sewer Hose Kit
Titan Premium RV Sewer Hose Kit

The Titan 17853 is one of the strongest RV septic tank hoses out there. It has an ergonomic ExtendGrip bayonet, allowing you to easily grip the hose without any slip-ups. The system attaches to any standard RV sewer outlet with the 5-in-1 adapter.

The manufacturer refers to the hose as “uncrushable,” which reviewers say is true. It bounces back to shape even if you step on or run it over. This feature is handy because sewage pipe accidents happen, especially if you have children running around your campsite. The hose material is Thermal Plastic Elastomer (TPE), which is resistant to puncture and abrasion.

In our testing, we found that this hose does not fold up as easily as some other models for storage. You may want to use a bin to store it so you don’t struggle to get it into a tight space. It is easy to clean out, and the handle means you can keep your hands from coming in contact with sewage.

4. Camco Revolution Swivel Sewer Hose Kit

Camco Revolution Swivel Sewer Hose Kit
Camco Revolution Swivel Sewer Hose Kit

As the name suggests, the Camco Revolution Swivel Sewer Hose comes with full-circle swivel fittings for easy hookup. The fittings seal well, so you shouldn’t have any complications with use. There are two 10-foot hoses in the kit that you can use together. If you only need a 10-foot hose, you can keep the second one as a backup option.

If you are a full-time RVer, you should definitely consider the Camco Revolution. The hose material is HTS vinyl, so it’s made for heavy-duty use. The kit comes with lug fittings, bayonet-style fittings, and a clear elbow. The 4-in-1 adapter means you don’t have to use clamps or weights to keep your hose in place.

As an RV owner, you need to maximize your storage space. This hose compresses to about two feet, so storing is not difficult. Since it’s a heavy-duty hose, it doesn’t retract as much as a lighter hose, but it can take years of abuse, so the tradeoff may be worth it.

5. Lippert Waste Master RV Sewer Hose System (20 ft)

Lippert Waste Master RV Sewer Hose System
Lippert Waste Master RV Sewer Hose System

This kit is more than a hose – it’s a full waste management system. It comes with a CAM lock connector, so you won’t have any leaks when you connect it to the sewer outlet. The Waste Master hose has a helical coil on the outside with a smooth inside, so debris doesn’t get stuck inside. It is permanently connected to the nozzle, which has a 90-degree discharge port to fit into any inlet.

The nozzle is something that you don’t see on many similar RV hoses. It has a handle, a clear viewport, and a rubber-sealed shut-off valve. The valve ensures that you can completely close the hose off and not get any waste where you don’t want it. The hose stays extended to 18 feet and is UV-protected.

Since this heavy-duty hose only compresses to about 5 feet, it takes up more space than other hoses. However, it also gives you peace of mind that you won’t have leaks. You can set this hose up in a few minutes out of the box. Additionally, you may have to modify some RV sewer caps to work with this setup.

How to Choose an RV Sewer Hose

When choosing the best RV sewer hose for your needs, you must understand how you plan to use it.

For example, if you’re a full-timer or plan on using your RV often, you want a thick, durable hose. If you just need to use your hose once or twice a camping season, you may be able to get by with the most affordable choice.

Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry when working with waste. You don’t want to end up with a sewer hose malfunction halfway through your trip.

Tip: Check your hoses and practice using them before you leave. That way, you can save time and energy when ready for the real thing.

So, let’s cover some basics of what you need to know before you buy a sewer hose.

How Do You Use An RV Sewer Hose?

Your RV has holding tanks for wastewater from the kitchen and bathroom. Whenever you need to empty these tanks, you simply follow these steps:

  1. Wear gloves. When working with waste, you want to minimize the chance of getting it on your hands. Wear gloves to protect yourself from coming into contact with anything that may leak out.
  2. Close the sewer valves. Before removing the cap, ensure the sewer valves are closed.
  3. Attach the hose to the RV. Connect the hose to the waste fitting on the RV and fix the other side to the dump station inlet. Make sure the connections are secure.
  4. Open the hose valve for the black tank. Do this slowly and let the waste dump into the sewer.
  5. Repeat with the grey tank. Let all the waste dump into the sewer, then carefully close the valve again.
  6. Disconnect and clean the hose. Remove the hose from your RV, but keep it attached to the sewer inlet. Use a hose (not the one for your drinking water) to flush the inside of your sewer hose. This process ensures that you don’t have waste residue.

After cleaning, you can disconnect the hose from the sewer and store it. It is important to do your black tank before your grey tank to reduce the chance of nasty residue in your hose.

Check out our guide on how to hook up an RV sewer hose and use it for a more detailed explanation.

Lengths for Sewer Hoses

Most sewer hoses come in lengths of 10, 15, or 20 feet. If your hose is too short, it may not have the reach you need for your camping setup. However, long hoses can be heavy and difficult to handle. In most cases, you can’t go wrong with a hose of 10 to 20 feet in length. Some kits come with two hoses that can be used together or separately for more flexibility.

Flexibility

A flexible hose means you don’t have to worry about breaking and cracking. It also holds up better in harsh winter weather, when hoses can crack and freeze more easily than in warmer months. Additionally, your hose should be able to withstand constant stretching and pulling.

You want a hose that comfortably stretches from your RV to the sewage area. However, you don’t want it to bulge and become easily bent out of shape. To find out how flexible a hose is, read the user reviews and see what other users think.

Collapsibility

In an RV, space is a limited commodity. Some sewer hoses are bulky and easily become a nuisance after a couple of uses. For this reason, you want a hose that can collapse and fit into your storage area.

Read your hose’s product description and ensure it will fit into the space you have available. Not all hoses will automatically fit into the compartment in your RV. You may need a storage bin specifically for the sewer hose.

Material Thickness

The thickness of your hose determines its durability. The more you plan to use it, the thicker, more durable hose you will need. Ideally, your hose should be approximately 23mm, but you can go for more or less depending on how you plan to use it. The thickness you get also depends on your budget, as sturdier materials are more expensive.

Price

RV hoses are generally not too expensive, but you don’t want to go the cheap route either. Set a budget for your hose from about $40 – $60. Lean towards the higher end if you plan on camping a lot.

Don’t assume that a more expensive hose is automatically the best. As with any purchase, read the product reviews to see how well it worked for other users.
