Less than three months after retiring from LCI Industries, Jason Lippert has taken a new job leading one of the country’s largest family-owned RV dealership groups.
Fun Town RV has named Lippert its chief executive officer. Founder and current CEO Jarrod McGhee will become founder and chairman while continuing to help guide the company’s strategy and growth.
The appointment brings a longtime RV component executive to the retail side of the industry as Fun Town prepares to expand beyond its current 32 dealerships.
Lippert Moves From RV Manufacturing to Retail
Lippert spent 32 years with LCI Industries and its related businesses, beginning on the manufacturing floor before becoming CEO in 2003.
Under his leadership, LCI grew from approximately $125 million in annual revenue to more than $4 billion, according to the company. The publicly traded supplier manufactures components used in RVs, boats and other vehicles.
Lippert stepped down from LCI on June 3, leaving his positions as president, CEO and board member. He agreed to remain an adviser for one year to help with the transition.
His new role puts him in charge of a dealership company that sells RVs directly to consumers. Lippert said his focus will include Fun Town’s employees, customers and the infrastructure needed to support continued growth.
Fun Town RV Signals Plans for Further Growth
McGhee founded Fun Town RV in 2010 with a single dealership. The company has since grown to 32 locations across several states, along with service and inspection facilities.
The leadership announcement repeatedly points toward additional expansion. McGhee said growing from one store to 32 required one set of skills, while the company’s next stage will require more developed systems, technology and organizational structure.
No acquisition, sale, or change in ownership was announced. Fun Town remains family-owned, with McGhee moving into the role of chairman and Lippert assuming responsibility for its day-to-day leadership.
