SpaceX has knocked $200 off the Starlink Mini, dropping the price to $299 for U.S. buyers.
The Mini is the lightweight dish made for those who travel. It’s portable (fits in a backpack), sets up in minutes, and includes a built-in Wi-Fi router.
The two Roam plans remain unchanged in monthly cost:
- Roam 50 GB: $50 per month
- Roam Unlimited: $165 per month

These plans let you stay connected on the road instead of being tied to a fixed address. A new Standby Mode is also available, allowing you to keep your account active for $5 per month at very limited speeds when you are not traveling.
Residential Discounts Still Worth Noting
While most RVers choose Roam, some also keep Starlink at home. I personally don’t, since the internet in our area is faster and cheaper, but it might be the only good option where you live. The Residential Standard Kit is currently $260 off, and service discounts apply for the first year:
- Residential Lite: $49–$59 per month (normally $80)
- Residential: $85 per month (normally $120)
Pricing can vary slightly by location, but these are the lowest widely reported rates right now.
New Referral Program Gives a Free Month
Starlink has recently introduced a referral program for both Residential and Roam customers. Here’s how it works:
- Existing customers log in through the app or website to get a unique referral link.
- Share that link with a friend who buys a Starlink kit directly from Starlink.
- Both you and the new customer get one free month of service.
- The credit shows up about 30 days after the new account activates and applies to the next bill.
There are a few conditions to keep in mind:
- Referrals must stay within the same country.
- Kits bought from third-party retailers like Best Buy or Home Depot do not qualify.
- The referred customer must be brand new to Starlink and keep their account active for at least one month.
- The program only applies to Residential and Roam service in areas that are not waitlisted.
Starlink notes that it can change or end the program at any time, so terms may evolve. Here’s their FAQ on their referral program for more info.
The Takeaway for Campers
For those relying on satellite internet on the road, the combination of a $299 Mini dish and the new referral credit can make getting started cheaper than it has been in months. The monthly plan pricing itself has not dropped for Roam users, unfortunately, but the upfront savings and potential free month can help offset those early costs.
If you know anybody else considering Starlink, sharing a referral link now could save you both a bill cycle. And if you’ve been waiting to buy hardware, the current $200 discount on the Mini is one of the lowest I’ve seen so far this year.
