The body of a kayaker was found Monday morning on Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park, according to the National Park Service.
Park officials said occupants of a vessel discovered the body of 41-year-old Brandon Rhea of Denver, Colorado, on the morning of June 8. His body was found floating in the water near Rock Point, along the northwest shore of Yellowstone Lake near Bridge Bay.
National Park Service rangers responded to the scene and recovered Rhea’s body, along with a capsized kayak and personal belongings.
The incident remains under investigation. Park officials said there are no further details to share at this time.
Yellowstone Lake is one of the park’s most well-known water features and is located in the southeastern portion of Yellowstone National Park. Bridge Bay is a popular area for boating and access to the lake.
The National Park Service announced the recovery in a June 11 news release from Yellowstone National Park.
