Airstream Remains Standalone Under THOR’s New North American Structure
THOR Industries recently announced a significant restructuring of its North American RV operations. Most of its U.S. brands were reorganized into two newly formed operating groups.
Airstream was not included in either group.
In its official announcement, THOR confirmed that Airstream and KZ will continue operating as standalone North American OEMs within the company.
Most Brands Moved Into Two Groups
Under the new structure, the majority of THOR’s North American RV manufacturers were divided into two operating groups led by Ken Walters and Jeff Kime.
Group One is now led by Ken Walters, President of Jayco. This group includes:
- Jayco
- Entegra
- Open Range
- Heartland
- Tiffin Motorhomes
Group Two is now led by Jeff Kime, President of Thor Motor Coach. This group includes:
- Thor Motor Coach
- Keystone
- Dutchmen
- Crossroads
Airstream and KZ were specifically identified as remaining outside of that reorganization.
What Standalone Means in This Case
A standalone designation means Airstream is not being folded into either of the two new operating groups. The brand will continue operating under its existing structure within THOR’s corporate umbrella.
THOR stated that collaboration across brands will continue to increase in areas such as sourcing coordination, operational alignment, and data integration. At the same time, the company emphasized that individual brands will maintain their identities.
No changes specific to Airstream’s leadership, manufacturing operations, or product lineup were announced.
Airstream’s Position Within THOR
Airstream has operated as a distinct brand within THOR’s portfolio for decades. The company manufactures its aluminum travel trailers and touring coaches in Ohio and maintains its own brand identity and dealer network.
Airstream is led by President and CEO Bob Wheeler, who has held the role since 2011. He joined the company in 2005 as Chief Financial Officer. THOR’s restructuring announcement did not indicate any leadership changes at Airstream.
What Has and Has Not Changed
The primary structural shift affects how most North American brands are grouped for coordination and operational oversight.
For Airstream, the announcement confirms continuity. The brand remains outside the two newly formed operating groups and will continue functioning as an independent unit within THOR’s North American operations.
THOR described the broader restructuring as part of a long-term effort to respond to dealer consolidation and growing operational complexity in the RV market.
At this stage, Airstream’s structure remains intact under the new model.
