Waterfront campsites with hookups in South Carolina are not always easy to find at reasonable prices. Many private campgrounds near the coast or large lakes charge significantly more, especially during peak travel seasons.
Federal lakes in the state offer another option. Several U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds sit directly on the shoreline of large reservoirs and include water and electric hookups at prices that remain relatively low compared to nearby private parks. Holders of the America the Beautiful Senior Pass can reduce those fees by 50 percent, which drops some sites to around $16 per night.
The campgrounds below all offer waterfront access and RV sites with hookups for $38 or less.
1. Coneross Campground

Coneross Campground sits on a wooded peninsula along Hartwell Lake, a large reservoir on the South Carolina–Georgia border. The campground covers roughly 136 acres with a mix of pines and hardwoods, and many campsites are positioned close to the water.
The park includes 106 campsites, with most offering water and electric hookups suitable for RVs. Four comfort stations with showers are spread throughout the campground, along with two dump stations for convenience. A boat ramp and courtesy dock provide easy lake access, and there are designated swimming areas and playgrounds around the park. Paved roads and parking pads make it easier to navigate larger rigs.
2. Hawe Creek Campground

Hawe Creek Campground is located along the shoreline of J. Strom Thurmond Lake, a massive reservoir that stretches across the South Carolina and Georgia border. With more than 70,000 acres of water and over 1,000 miles of shoreline, the lake supports boating, fishing, paddling, and swimming.
The campground itself is smaller and quieter than many nearby parks, with 34 campsites tucked among trees near the water. Two bathhouses provide flush toilets and hot showers, and a dump station is available for RV travelers. A nearby boat ramp and courtesy dock make it easy to launch boats or access the lake for fishing and paddling.
3. Oconee Point Campground

Oconee Point Campground sits on about 70 wooded acres along Hartwell Lake and offers a mix of pine forest and hardwood trees that provide shade across much of the park. The terrain slopes gently toward the water, giving many campsites partial lake views or quick shoreline access.
The campground includes 70 RV-friendly campsites with water and electric hookups, including both 30-amp and 50-amp service. Five comfort stations are located throughout the campground, several with showers. A boat ramp and courtesy dock provide access to the lake, and there is also a designated swim area and beach along with playgrounds for families camping with children.
4. Springfield Campground

Springfield Campground is one of the larger recreation areas on Hartwell Lake and is known for its mix of wooded campsites and open areas near the shoreline. The campground sits on roughly 60 acres dominated by Virginia pine with pockets of hardwood forest.
The park contains 79 campsites with water and electric hookups for RVs. Six comfort stations are located around the campground, several of which include showers. Boaters have access to a boat ramp and courtesy dock, while swimmers can use the designated beach area. Playground areas and paved campground roads make it easier for families and larger rigs to move through the park.
5. Twin Lakes Recreation Area

Twin Lakes Recreation Area covers roughly 152 acres along Hartwell Lake and separates its campground from the day-use area to reduce congestion around campsites. The campground area is wooded with pines and hardwoods, and the terrain slopes gradually toward the lake.
More than 100 campsites are available, many with water and electric hookups for RVs. Five comfort stations with showers are located throughout the campground, along with two dump stations. The recreation area also includes a boat ramp, courtesy dock, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and designated swimming areas. The size of the park and its lakeside setting make it one of the more popular camping areas on the Hartwell Lake shoreline.
