Customers alleged the dealership knew campers had defects before they were sold. One lawsuit filed last fall involved a new 2022 RV purchased from the North Charleston Camping World. According to court documents cited by Live 5 News, the lawsuit alleges the RV’s door would not lock, water was leaking, and there was a strong propane odor because gas lines were not secured properly. The lawsuit also alleged the dealership missed scheduled maintenance appointments and that the customers received “empty promises” from Camping World. An RV inspector later warned the customers not to use the camper until the issues were resolved because of concerns about mold growth inside the unit. ## Repair Delays Can Leave Owners Stuck For many RV buyers, the purchase is not just about transportation or recreation. Slavin described one client with early-onset dementia who had planned to use an RV with her husband to make memories during the time she had left. Instead, he said, the RV spent a year or two sitting at the dealer waiting for repairs. He also argued that the issue goes beyond one dealership.
